  • What is Pneuma Trance®?
Pneuma Trance® is an experiential method that uses introspective breathing, meditative trance, sound, and silence to guide attention inward in a gradual and structured way. Its purpose is to support calm, regulated depth, emotional regulation, and the safe exploration of non-ordinary states of consciousness, while you remain aware throughout.

Why is it called Pneuma Trance®?
Pneuma is an ancient Greek word meaning breath, and also spirit or vital force. The name reflects the essence of the method: the breath opens the way, and the meditative trance that follows is where attention turns inward toward a deeper experience of yourself.

What disciplines does Pneuma Trance® draw on?
The method brings together four complementary paths: science, ancestrality, spirituality, and introspection. In practice, these are expressed through introspective breathing, meditation, meditative trance, and interoception, the ability to perceive the internal state of the body.

Is Pneuma Trance® a form of breathwork?
No, it is not. Introspective breathing is an important component, but it functions as a threshold rather than the goal, working within a broader structure that includes guided attention, meditative trance, sound, silence, observation, and integration. Unlike breathwork approaches that seek intense release or catharsis, Pneuma Trance® is oriented toward calm, regulated depth.

    Is Pneuma Trance® meditation?
It shares principles with meditation, but no single discipline fully describes the method. Pneuma Trance® works with meditative trance, a state of focused, inward attention that deepens gradually through breathing, rhythm, and silence. You remain aware throughout, and your experience unfolds according to your own internal process rather than external suggestion.

Does Pneuma Trance® involve psychedelics or any other substances?
No. Pneuma Trance® sessions are completely substance-free, and any shift in awareness arises from breathing, attention, sound, and silence alone. Participation is never permitted under the influence of alcohol, recreational drugs, or psychedelic substances.

Is it a spiritual or religious practice?
No particular religious or spiritual belief is required. Participants may understand their experience through psychological, contemplative, symbolic, spiritual, or other personal frameworks, and Pneuma Trance® does not impose a belief system or prescribe how an experience must be interpreted.

    Is Pneuma Trance® therapy?
No. Pneuma Trance® is an experiential and educational method, not psychotherapy, medical treatment, or a substitute for professional healthcare. Participants may find their experiences personally meaningful, but the method does not claim to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical or psychological condition.

Why do people explore Pneuma Trance®?
People come for many reasons, such as stress, emotional tension, difficulty slowing down, grief, repetitive thoughts, personal transitions, an interest in introspection, or a desire to explore non-ordinary states of consciousness. These are personal motivations, not medical indications, and the method is not presented as a treatment for any condition.

  • What happens during a session?
Each session follows a gradual progression in five stages: arrival and orientation, regulation, introspective breathing, silence and meditation, and return and integration. The breathing phase is one part of the experience, not the entire session, and it serves as a threshold into stillness and inward observation.

    What role does sound play?
Sound is an essential part of the method. Sessions use carefully designed soundscapes, including rhythmic and binaural elements delivered through headphones, which accompany each stage and help sustain inward attention. Periods of silence are equally intentional, creating space for stillness and observation.

How long does a session last?
Standard sessions, whether on-site, online, or private, last 90 minutes. Some special formats are shorter, such as the Night Reset, a 40-minute evening session online.

    Do I need previous experience?
No. You do not need previous experience with Pneuma Trance®, meditation, or introspective breathing. Before beginning, your facilitator explains the process, what you may experience, how to communicate discomfort, and how the session can be adjusted if needed.

    What might I experience?
There is no single Pneuma Trance® experience. You may notice physical sensations, deep introspection, emotional movement, stillness, memories or imagery, a shift in your sense of awareness, or symbolic experiences, and some sessions are simply quiet and subtle. None of these is required, and intensity is never a measure of success or depth.

Will I lose control or become unconscious?
No. The method is built around maintained awareness, voluntary participation, and a guided return. You remain able to communicate, slow your breathing, pause, or stop at any time, and the aim is a structured shift in attention, never unconsciousness or loss of control.

Should I try to make the experience stronger?
No. Pneuma Trance® is not a test of how deeply you can breathe or how intense the experience becomes, and depth does not come from forcing the breath or chasing dramatic sensations. Your role is simply to follow the guidance, stay aware of your body, and allow the experience to develop at its own pace.

Does everyone enter a non-ordinary state of consciousness?
Not necessarily, and the method does not guarantee any particular state. Some participants experience changes in their sense of time, self, or awareness, while others remain in ordinary awareness and experience relaxation or stillness. Reaching a non-ordinary state is not required for a session to be meaningful.

Are the memories or images that arise real?
Some participants report spontaneous memories, colors, scenes, faces, or symbolic images, which can feel vivid, subtle, or fragmented. Material that emerges during an introspective state is treated as subjective experience and is not automatically assumed to represent an exact or verified memory.

  • Can physical sensations occur during a session?
Yes. Changes in breathing can temporarily produce sensations such as tingling, numbness in the hands or around the mouth, lightheadedness, temperature changes, trembling, yawning, muscle tension, or temporary stiffness or curling of the hands. These effects come mainly from temporary changes in carbon dioxide levels and usually fade as breathing returns to its natural rhythm. They are not a sign that the session is working, and you are never encouraged to breathe harder to produce them.

Is Pneuma Trance® safe for everyone?
No method that intentionally modifies breathing and consciousness is appropriate for every person. Pneuma Trance® is designed for healthy adults who can follow instructions, communicate discomfort, and modify or stop the practice when needed. Every session follows a defined protocol, and the intensity of the breathing can be adjusted individually.

Who should not participate without further evaluation?
Participation is not recommended without prior evaluation if you are pregnant, have a history of epilepsy or seizures, significant cardiovascular conditions including uncontrolled high blood pressure, glaucoma or retinal problems, recent surgery or significant injury, serious respiratory conditions, or a history of psychosis, mania, or severe psychiatric conditions. Participation is never permitted under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs. The complete explanation is available on our Safety Guidelines & Contraindications page.

    Can children and adolescents participate?
Yes. Pneuma Trance® is not limited to adults, and children and adolescents can take part in sessions adapted to their age, with adjusted duration and parameters. Please contact us before booking so we can explain how sessions are adapted and which formats are available.

What if I have a medical or psychological condition, or take medication?
A diagnosis does not automatically mean you cannot participate. What matters is the specific condition, its severity and stability, your treatment, and the type of adjustment required. Please disclose any significant conditions and all medications before booking, and if you live with anxiety, trauma-related conditions, depression, or another psychological condition, talk with your facilitator and, when appropriate, with the professional responsible for your care.

What if my physician needs to approve my participation?
Medical clearance is not a request for your physician to approve Pneuma Trance® as a treatment. The question is whether your health allows you to take part in a guided practice that may involve temporary changes in breathing and carbon dioxide, meditation, emotional activation, and an altered subjective state. Please describe the practice to your healthcare professional accurately, not simply as relaxation.

What happens if I feel uncomfortable during a session?
You can slow down, return to normal breathing, pause, speak with the facilitator, or stop at any time, and no one is ever asked to continue through significant discomfort. Symptoms such as chest pain, severe difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, new neurological symptoms, severe disorientation, or persistent visual disturbance require stopping the practice and seeking appropriate evaluation.

What if strong emotions come up?
As attention moves inward, emotions such as sadness, relief, joy, fear, calm, or tenderness may become more noticeable, while others experience little emotional change. Neither response is better or deeper. Emotions are allowed to emerge without being forced, and the facilitator is present throughout to guide and support you.

    Who guides the sessions?
Sessions are guided by facilitators trained through the Pneuma Trance® Academy. Every facilitator follows the method's protocol at each stage and is prepared to adjust the practice to each participant and to respond appropriately if discomfort arises.

  • What formats are available?
We offer on-site group sessions, live group sessions on Zoom, the online Night Reset, private one-on-one sessions in person or online, as well as workshops, immersive sound sessions, and retreats. Current dates, formats, and locations are listed on the Schedule page.

What is provided at an on-site session, and what should I bring?
On-site sessions may take place in different locations, so what is provided can vary from one venue to another. The details for each session, including what is provided and anything you need to bring, are indicated in its listing on the Schedule page. Please arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in without rushing.

What do I need for an online session?
You need a reliable internet connection, a computer or tablet, headphones, an eye mask, and a comfortable place to lie down, with a pillow, blanket, and water nearby. Your camera must be positioned so the facilitator can see you clearly throughout, your phone should be silenced, and you will need a private space without interruptions for about 90 minutes. Never participate from a vehicle, a public place, or any environment where privacy, comfort, and safety cannot be maintained.

Is an online session the same as an on-site session?
The method is the same, and your facilitator remains connected and guides each stage of the process. On-site, the space is prepared for the session, while online you take greater responsibility for your space, avoiding interruptions, and keeping the camera visible. Neither format is automatically deeper or better.

  • How should I prepare?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that does not restrict breathing or movement, have a light meal beforehand rather than a heavy one, and stay normally hydrated. Use the restroom before beginning, and when possible, avoid scheduling anything that requires a rushed departure afterward.

What should I share with my facilitator before the session?
Please let your facilitator know about any significant medical or psychological conditions, all medications you take, and anything that may affect your comfort, such as recent injuries or difficulty lying down for an extended time. This information allows the practice to be adjusted to you and helps every session remain safe.

What if I feel nervous before my first session?
Feeling some nervousness before a new experience is completely natural. Before beginning, your facilitator explains each stage of the process and what you may experience, and you remain free to slow down, pause, or stop at any time.

What if I feel unwell on the day of my session?
If you have a cold, nasal congestion, a fever, or simply feel unwell, please contact us before your session. Since the practice involves breathing, it is better to wait until you feel well rather than participate while your body is not at its best.

Can I drink alcohol or use other substances beforehand?
Participation is not permitted while intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs, and we recommend avoiding them for at least 24 hours before your session. They make responses less predictable and interfere with both the experience and your safety. Do not stop prescribed medication on your own; simply let us know what you take.

  • How will I feel afterward?
Most people feel calm, relaxed, and clear, though some feel tired or emotionally sensitive for a while. Give yourself several minutes to become fully oriented, drink water, stand slowly, and notice how you feel before returning to demanding activities.

Can I drive after a session?
Yes, once you feel fully oriented and grounded. If you still feel noticeably disoriented, allow additional time before driving or doing anything that requires full concentration.

What if something difficult stays with me after the session?
Occasionally, emotions, memories, or sensations that arose during the session remain present for a while afterward. Rest, gentle movement, time in nature, and quiet reflection can help you settle, and you are welcome to contact us if you would like guidance. If distress persists or feels overwhelming, please reach out to a qualified healthcare or mental health professional.

    What is integration?
Integration is the process of observing and contextualizing what occurred once the active part of the session has ended. After the session you may choose to write, reflect quietly, rest, draw, notice dreams or emotional changes, or discuss relevant material with an appropriate professional when needed.

Do I need to understand everything I experienced?
No. Some experiences are immediately understandable, while others become clearer only with time, and Pneuma Trance® encourages observation before interpretation. Integration never requires forcing a meaning onto what occurred.

  • How do I book a session?
Group sessions, online sessions, workshops, and special events can be booked directly on our Schedule page. Private sessions are scheduled individually based on availability, so please contact us through the Contact page or at info@pneumatrance.com.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, cash, and Zelle. Zelle payments can be sent to 561-523-2889 or to info@pneumatrance.com.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
If you notify us at least 24 hours before your session, or 48 hours for sessions on Mondays or holidays, the amount paid is applied as a credit toward a future session and we will coordinate a new date at the next available time. Cancellations made with less notice, as well as missed sessions, are not eligible for credit, and the session is forfeited. Pneuma Trance® sessions are not refunded, and retreats follow their own terms, which are detailed on each retreat's Cancellation Policy page.

    Do you offer gift cards?
Yes. Gift cards are available on our Gift Card page and can be applied toward eligible sessions and events, making them a meaningful way to share the experience with someone else.

    Is my participation confidential?
Yes. Personal information and anything shared during a session are kept confidential, and in group settings all participants agree to respect each other's privacy. Recording or photographing any part of the session is not permitted. The only exception to confidentiality is a situation in which someone's immediate safety requires contacting emergency services.

  • How often should I practice?
There is no single frequency that suits everyone. It depends on your experience, your response to previous sessions, and the purpose of your practice, and Pneuma Trance® favors continuity and stability over repeatedly seeking intense experiences.

What is the Pneuma Trance® Academy?
The Academy is the formal educational pathway of the method, offering structured study, progressive practice, and experiential learning for those who wish to go beyond individual sessions. It leads to facilitator certification and is an educational framework, not clinical or medical training.

    Do you offer retreats?
Yes. We hold immersive multi-day retreats in Huasca de Ocampo, Mexico, combining Pneuma Trance® sessions with silence, meditation, and integration in a natural setting. Upcoming dates are listed on the Schedule page.
